Frequently Asked Questions
I have mobility issues, can I still have a treatment?
The answer is most often “yes” as treatments can be adapted. For example, If you cannot lie on the massage couch for too long, I could treat you sitting in a chair. If you have difficulty being reclined for reflexology we can treat you sitting on the massage couch. All this can be discussed during your initial consultation.
What should I wear for a massage?
I often have to carry out an assessment of your movement before treatment and therefore will ask you to undress down to underwear, leggings or shorts, so you should wear loose clothing and or bring suitable clothing to change into. Your privacy and comfort is my priority.
What should I expect at my first visit?
During the first visit for any therapy please expect to be asked detailed questions about the history of current conditions, your medical history and your current lifestyle, this allows me to build a greater understanding of you and how I can treat you with the most success (all information discussed is strictly confidential). With massage, I may need to assess movement and mobility which may require you to undress to underwear or if more comfortable leggings or shorts. Treatment can then begin once we have agreed on a suitable treatment plan and I have your consent.
Is treatment painful?
Some treatments, such as deep-tissue massage may prove painful or give some discomfort, however if this occurs please tell me and I will adjust the amount of pressure used or switch to a different technique.
